Johns Creek, GA – The SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference announced the 2011 SELC Awards and All-Conference Teams for Division 1 and Division 2 earlier today.

The USF Bulls look to start the 2011 lacrosse season with three tough home games against state schools, taking on the UNF Ospreys, UF Gators, and UCF Knights and ending the season against a top 5 ranked FSU Seminoles. New out of state opponents this year are Nebraska, Tulane, and fellow Big East (football) Conference rival Pitt.

University of South Florida’s Women’s Lacrosse team finished it’s season with an overall record of 4-6 and 3-3 within the league. They had a great season for a program still in it’s infancy with almost 25 participating members on the roster. USF has 3 seniors graduating including Adora Wilkins (D), Aimee LeClair (G), and Lindsey Moreno (C/A). Team President Rebecca Scheuer expects to have all of the rest of the girls return for the 2009-2010 season! Make sure to check out one of thier newest transfer players, Junior, Haley Carmack on attack. Haley is one of the strongest offensive players, so keep an eye out for her next season. Also, USF has two very strong and aggressive Freshmen defenders, Bianca Clark and Courtney Stasi. Keep an eye out for those key players, along with Freshman - Ann Marie McCollum (D), Freshman - Laney Cummings (C), Freshman - Ingrid Quinones (DW), Senior - Erin Long (AW), and Sophomore - Bree Fila (AW).

USF finished it’s season against four tough in-state women’s lacrosse teams: University of Miami (below), University of Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University (above), and University of Central Florida.

The USF women’s lax program is poised to great things given the school’s athletic conference. With a rising football team and the dominance of basketball teams in the Big East, it’s only a matter of time before the lacrosse program is put on the map. Earlier this year The BIG EAST Conference announced that it will formally begin sponsoring the sport of men’s lacrosse beginning in the spring of 2010! Also putting women’s lacrosse on the map for the state is University of Florida which announced that the university is constructing a lacrosse stadium for the new women’s lacrosse team that should be finished by July 2009.
The Florida State Seminoles Men’s Lacrosse team will play University of South Florida tonight. Game starts at 7 p.m. on the fowler fields and it should be a good one. Come out and watch some college lacrosse- weather should be perfect.
